Not Cool

I'm actually going to start off by letting you in on a little secret. My last name is NOT "Cool". That name actually stemmed from a wrestling video game character I created about 17 years during my college years. Sorry to disappoint anyone who actually thought my last name really was "Cool". I know there are still a few of you out there who’s feathers will be ruffled when you read this.
A little about me, I am an outdoors-loving individual who would rather #optoutside than spend time confined to four walls and a desk. The energy I receive from the ocean, forest, and mountains, is preferable to the fast pace and noise of a city. I enjoy sunrise coffee on the top of a mountain to sitting around a campfire, spouting stories with close friends, and everything in between. I am an adventurer at heart and identify myself as a rock climber. Most of what you read about here will probably relate to climbing.

I'm 30 something years young and really can't remember the last time I wrote anything that wasn't related to my 40+ hour weekly grind, which begs the question, why now? Well, everyone in life goes through moments of hardship and comes out on the other end seeking some sort of direction.
This past year has led to a plethora of self-discovery and analyzation of my weaknesses. One gap in the portfolio of Dean, is my ability to articulate thoughts in conversation and on paper. I could just write and not publish my material in this blog, but I want the pressure of an audience. This will hopefully motivate me to keep my writing at a higher level.
Being fond of the outdoors, I decided to focus my writing on what I know. "Human Nature" will incorporate my adventures, struggles with life and inner thoughts. I will also add a collection of stories from people I meet along the way who inspire me.
The concept of Human Nature has been coming to me quite often as I step out of myself and look towards decoding what events sum me up as the individual I am today. The crux (climbing term meaning the most challenging part) will be to dig deep enough into each story and hypothesis how the choices and actions made in nature nurtured human nature.
So sit back, grab a cup of coffee or a whiskey on the rocks (two of my favorite drinks) and enjoy, or don't and let me know why.
